Holidays are mostly over. Jet goes back to school tomorrow. Life may resume a more modest pace.
Please.
I don't think I've been doing much, but, as usual, when I look at it I do a *headdesk*. Since we got home from Taos, we've mostly been cleaning up the house so that the cleaners could come today and not wade about in a morass of wrapping paper, flung toys, and snow gear. We've been playing with our toys and eating food and exercising. The snow is falling again, and I had fun digging out the sidewalk and driveway. It's a good workout.
We all got H1N1 flu shots as the local clinic was in good supply, and at $10 a pop it didn't hurt even if we thought we'd gotten it. I've been riding the bike like a good girl and watching Ghost in the Shell 1 and 2 (the Innocence). The Innocence was clearly an art-flick, and the number of aphorisms was astonishing, and I loved learning that they got a *Chinese* calligraphy master to do the poetry.
My dad's a linguist of some 60 years study, since he was born in China, and lived most of his young adult life, there, his first language is still a dialect of Fukanese (Taiwanese) first, and then Mandarin. During our trip home, he expounded some on his theories about the difference between the written language of China and those of Europe.

I've been updating and checking out the blogs I'm following through Google Reader. (My professor told us to keep up with some library trends and blogs, so that's what I'm doing.) I've discovered some great articles and fantastic blogs. Among which is this article on beautiful libraries. They're so ancient and wonderful, I think I'd feel so at home walking through their doors.
Then again... I keep thinking I'd like to work in a library that's different, off the beaten path. While those libraries are beautiful, I just know I'd feel a little weird being in some place that's so old and most likely seeped in tradition. Whispering only and no social programming. (Well, I assume they don't have program rooms for toddler story time ^^)
That's why I just adore this library in Thailand. Seriously, that's what libraries are about. They even do programming! How effing cool is that?!
Good things come to those who wait. How passive should I be about finding my dream job? (All the amazing jobs I've ever had have come by chance. Those that I had to hunt down ended up being kinda poopy.)
In other news, I've got a cold that's killed my voice. How lovely.
This is a 'Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, thanks for being awesome!' present. :)
Title: The Morning After
Series: Follows ‘The Night Before’ by
moshesque (read that first)
Author: Akuni
Fandom: Supernatural
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Genre: Romance, Humour
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: Set right after 5x03 'Free to Be You and Me'
Word Count: 905
Summary: Dean thinks he's messed it up after all.
Disclaimer: I do not own Supernatural, I’m just borrowing it for a while.
Distribution: This is just for
whymzycal, so no. :) Crossposted eventually.
Dedication: For Whymz, because she is awesome.
A/N: Whymz not only managed to keep my secret that I was writing for Mosh in a Secret Santa exchange, but she also found time to beta that fic despite being up to her eyeballs in her own Yuletide writing. I thought such awesomeness warranted something special. :) So, when I read Mosh’s gift for her, it just felt right to add to that scenario. Thanks for everything, Whymz! ♥
This is for Whymz, but I have the feeling she’ll have to wrestle for joint custody with
sekra, who has been trying to vortex me into the Dean/Cas camp pretty much since Castiel showed up. There, I’ve officially written it now, are you happy? *g*
Thanks to
moshesque for the beta and general all-around greatness. :)

... how many years and/or decades begin with a Blue Moon?
I kind of hope it'll be lucky.
And the moon sure is beautiful out there in the cold, clear sky.
We're in a hotel in the town of Taos. It's less expensive than the ski resorts, but the boys took today to go skiing.
Yesterday, we drove through Los Alamos to get here, and the jagged, beautiful high desert of New Mexico was dusted with snow like it was powdered sugar. It's not that much warmer here, no clouds to hold the heat in, but the sun is here longer and it's warmer during the day. high 30's and 40's in the day, single digits at night.

I hope that everyone has a very, very happy new year and a great New Decade.

Spoils: This spoils some of the Arrancar Arc, perhaps more of the anime version than the manga version.
Word Count: 1534
Summery: After living together for a while, Rangiku takes Orihime shopping.
Secret Santa Gift for:
mefie_toi
Author's Note: This was for the secret santa exchange for
our_scriptorium. So no cross-posting for a little while, and it was fun to think about just girls for a while, not something I usually do. *laughs* And many, many thanks to
akuni for betaing my in-the-van written fic! I appreciate her help with all the repeats I had, immensely.

The True Fan
OOC is blasphemy, canon is everything.
Once you fall in love with a movie, book or TV series, you are loyal like an old dog. You take fanfiction quite serious and use it as a substitute after the canon ran out.
You rather explore a character in all depth, see new sides and learn more about them than creating new characters or mix up the situations they are in.

Hmmm... interesting. That's mostly true - but the groupings and limited options in some of the questions makes that more luck than anything, I expect. Not that anyone really expects real science (or good grammar) out of an internet meme, haha!
ETA: Muppets do Bohemian Rhapsody. 'Nuff said! :D
Hehehehehe!
